1646 is an experimental art space in the heart of The Hague. With an experimental, international public programme, 1646 aims to contribute to an increasingly complex society. Here, established structures and traditional points of view are challenged to reflect on the questions we are all walking around with.

In its exhibition programme, 1646 showcases innovative artistic practices and invites local and international artists to produce new work. The programme consists of a wide range of exhibitions, artist talks, events, publications, talks, podcasts and an artist-in-residence programme. 1646 is a non-profit foundation dedicated to creating the space and resources to encourage art practice. Through its focus on solo projects, 1646 offers in-depth insight into the artist and their work.
