We are Queertopia: we help people from LGBTQIA+ communities develop according to their own ideals. Because within Dutch society straight and cis/binary gender is the norm, queer people often fall by the wayside.

This brings with it all kinds of complexities. LGBTQIA+ persons face violence, discrimination and exclusion, or isolate themselves from the outside world to avoid risking those experiences. For instance, trans persons are more likely to be lonely and many gay men experience oppressive norms around masculinity.

The Queertopia Foundation therefore focuses on promoting the mental and physical health of LGBTQIA+ persons. We want to offer queer people the space to connect with each other and to develop and discover themselves, experience queer joy and gender freedom apart from heteronormative standards and binary gender norms.
