Flop van Arkel, Coos de Bruijn and Vanja Treffers have been working together for more than a decade. Combining their diverse backgrounds in photography, fashion and spatial design, they have developed a unique, contemporary and colourful style. Besides their work as designers, they are also active as DJs, musicians and lighting technicians.

From 2006, Topaze's work became more socially engaged. The artists went into city neighbourhoods and to various schools. By working in various projects in the so-called power districts, it became clear that art and culture do not automatically reach every child, young person and adult. Arts and culture bodies are subsidised but these groups are not reached and do not come across. Therefore, Topaze wants to break the elitist status of the arts by bringing art to the people. This will make it more accessible and increase cultural participation among these groups.
Project concepts have been devised especially for different target groups by the artists involved. Due to the professionalism of the artists, the artistic quality of the final product is monitored.
For the realisation of the projects, the Topaze Foundation (link to foundation)has been established.
