Hague Talks: What is Just Peace?

  • Date: 23 June
  • Time: 18:45 - 22:00
  • Location: Amare Studio, The Hague (with livestream available)

Taking place on 23 June at Amare Studio, Hague Talks brings conversations on pathways to peace into light, centering the lived experiences of thought leaders and changemakers to inspire reflection, imagination, and action.

Through powerful talks and artistic performances, Hague Talks challenges conventional ideas of peace and justice and invites you to reimagine what a just and lasting peace could look like—both in the world and in your own community.

Anchored in the question “What does a Just Peace look like?”, the evening creates space to explore different perspectives, and to consider how imagination can move us toward collective action.

The evening will open with a welcome address by Mariëlle Vavier, Deputy Mayor of The Hague for Poverty, Inclusion, Public Health, and International Affairs. The programme will be hosted by Leila Prnjavorac (Peace ambassador - 2020, Hague Citizen of the Year - 2017) and will feature inspiring contributions from speakers including Kumi Naidoo (activist, formerly led Amnesty International & Greenpeace International), Rugiatu Neneh Turay-Koroma (Sierra Leonean women’s rights advocate, founder of the Amazonian Initiative Movement & N’NINKIE), Jess O'Connell (US Democracy strategist, CEO of NEWCO Strategies and the Democracy Security Project) and Sahar Shirzad (program maker, writer and legal professional with a specialization in human rights).

The event will also be enriched by powerful performances from Nichelle Buyne (Surinamese-Dutch spoken word artist) and Ruby Joemai (interdisciplinary artist, member of CTRL+ALT+IDENTITY and founder of Kaam Kari).

Additional speakers, performers, and the full programme will be announced soon.

This event will take place in English. Dutch translation will be available.

Organised by The Hague Humanity Hub in collaboration with the Municipality of The Hague and Leiden University. Audio-visual support by Holland Park Media.
